Apple Roll

This is Ben's favorite dessert. His mom made it for him growing up, not often but as a rare treat. He often calls her to get the recipe so instead of bugging her every time he wants to make it I'm posting it here to have. Also, it's delicious, make it, eat it, love it.

Ingredients:

Dough
2 cups Bisquick
2 tablespoon sugar
3/4 cup half & half or cream (thicker but more calories and more expensive)

Filling
3 cups of apple
1/2 to 1 stick of butter (to your liking/diet)
cinnamon

How To:

Mix 2 cups of water and 1 1/2 cups of sugar in baking pan, 9x12, and place it in oven at 400 degrees. I don't have an exact time for this, Ben says just leave it in there while you do the rest of the baking.

Mix dough ingredients until pliable dough is achieved. Add more cream and Bisquick as needed. Lightly dust countertop with Bisquick. Roll out dough into a long rectangle approximately 8 inches by 16 inches, quarter inch thick.

Spread shredded apples through center of dough, longwise. Sprinkle with cinnamon and place a line of chunks of butter liberally on top of shredded apples. Then you roll dough over on top and bottom covering apple filling, should look like an apple burrito. The dough tears easily but it doesn't need to look pretty it just has to stay together.

Cut apple burrito in 1 inch slices and lay flat (on its side) in the baking pan in the oven* side by side with ends touching. You want them snug so that they hold themselves together and if it looks squished it's perfect.

Place in oven at 400 degrees for 25 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Serve with vanilla ice cream. Eat warm but don't burn your mouth!

*Take baking pan out of the oven before placing goods into it.
